Think Summer!

To take a break from the Christmas/snow cards, I decided to make a Summer card for 3 challenges.

Magnolia Down Under #74  -Summer
Colour Create  Challenge #58-robin egg blue, seafoam green, cream
Truly Scrumptious Sketch Challenge #46

My friend  (thanks, Sue!) sent me a whole bunch of Magnolia images that she stamped for me. I colored this one with Copic markers and cut her out. I had bought a new Cuttlebug set called Persia. I used it for the blue background and the leaves. I also used the wave folder on the cream panel. The saying is Queen Kat Design and the paper is Deja View. I added 2 flowers with bling in the middles and punched leaves. We got to take a trip to Hawaii this year and this card makes me want to go back! Thanks for stopping by!

envelope art plus a card to match

The challenge for The House Mouse #83 is envelope art. I haven't decorated envelopes very much in the past but I like the way they look! I need to start doing this more! I colored this House Mouse image with Copic markers. The pine needle stamp is Verve. Sorry if the envelopes looks dirty, they are not! I have cleaned and cleaned my scanner but can't get all of the glue off!

You are probably supposed to make the card and then the envelope to match but I did the opposite! Tonite, I created this card to go with the envelope! I am entering it into 2 challenges.

Inspirational Card Sketches # 92
Creative Inspirations 88 #- Color Scheme-red, gold and green

I colored this image with Copic markers. The pine needle stamp is Verve and the background stamp is StampinUp that is embossed with gold embossing powder. The edges of the green panels and image are embossed with gold too. The green panel is K&Co.  The inside saying is StampinUp.  Thanks for stopping by!

I used one of my favorite stamps again!

You guys are going to get tired of me using this Penny Black stamp! When I saw the colors at the Play Date Cafe #57 -brown, grey and silver, I knew that I had to use it again! The red strip is run through the Swiss Dots embossing panel. The big holly leaves are Quickutz and the little holly leaves are punches. I added red gems for the berries. Thanks for stopping by!

Snowman

Would you believe that my family threw me a surprise birthday party last night! I was a little suspicious right before because they left a couple of my photo albums out. Nobody messes with my pictures without me knowing it! They made me a poster and put some of my pictures on it. My friends and family were there, I have a great family and I had a wonderful 50th birthday!

Now on to my card that I have created for 4 challenges.
Penny Black #128-a sketch
Allsorts #79-a recipe-lace, ribbon and a charm
Stampin' for the Weekend #51-Winter
One Stop Craft Challenge #107-Snow People

This Penny Black Snowman is colored with Copic markers. The saying is a Just Rite stamp and the snowflakes are Jolee's. The papers are GCD and Sweetwater. You can't make a snowman card without using the snowflake Cuttlebug folder! I added ribbon, lace and a snowflake charm. Thanks for stopping by!

No card, just some great news!

I have been invited to join The Fuzzy Wuzzy Challenge design team! Yesterday was my 50th birthday and my family took me to dinner to celebrate. When I got home there was an e-mail inviting me to join them! It was a great birthday present! They post monthly challenges and you just use an animal stamp on your project which I have a lot of, can't wait to start!

my favorites

They want your favorite things on your card at the Penny Black Challenge #127-so I used my favorite colors-blue and yellow. My favorite flower is the daisy and of course I love Penny Black hedgies! The challenge at the Allsorts #78 is to use a sketch. I turned it into a gatefold card for the Just Us Girls #59-Technique Challenge so this card opens in the middle.

The paper is Printworks. I colored the image with Copic markers. I cut the little daisies with the Cuttlebug and added gems to the middles. This was fun and I like this card because it is full of my favorites! Thanks for stopping by!

Hippity Hop Blog Hop:Recipe Challenge

For this blog hop, you are supposed to create a card or layout using the recipe that 5 different challenge blogs give you. Here are the sites and recipes:

Sassy Lil' Sketches-use the sketch that they give you
Scrap Fit-use 3 of the same element-I used 3 black pearls
Crop Suey-get messy-I rubbed black ink on the star embossed panel
ScrapTiffany-use lace
The Cuttlebug Spot-use texture or embossing-I used the star Cuttlebug embossing folder

The stamps are StampinUp and they are embossed with black and snowflake embossing powders. I added the silver stars on a string. This was a fun and challenging blog hop, give it a try! Thanks for stopping by!

Family

My family is going through a tough time right now so making this layout is very therapeutic! I love my family so much! I never did post pictures of my son's wedding like I promised so here is a layout using a picture of us at the wedding.

For the Cinema Saturday Challenge #100-Pride and Predjudice, you can enter more than once this time. I wasn't really happy with my card so I am entering this layout also. What impressed me about this movie was how close the Bennett family was. I loved the relationships between Elizabeth and her father, all of the sisters, the Mom and the daughters... The paper is Bo Bunny and the chipboard letters are Me and My Big Ideas. My journaling was printed on the computer. The sun stamp is Verve and is embossed with sparkly gold. You have to add lace so I added black lace behind the Family. When you live in a small Indiana town, we don't have many stores. Our Walmart didn't even have any lace! I had to buy a lace panty and cut it up! Thanks for stopping by!

a bird with a song

I was very bad and ordered myself some Verve stamps for my birthday! I love bird stamps so I used this set to make a card for 3 challenges.

The Play Date Cafe #55-bright blue, pale blue, pink, red and burgundy
Basic Grey Challenge #33-Wings
The Midnight Madness Sketch #79

These colors are kind of hard to put together but I love the effect now that I did it! The stamps are Verve which I embossed the birds with ruby red and the saying is embossed with pale pink embossing powder. I ran the blue panel through the Leaf Cuttlebug folder. The Basic Grey paper that I used is the burgundy strip down the middle called Boxer. I added the blue flower brads. My hubby and son are deer hunting this weekend so I will probably get some more crafting done later! Thanks for stopping by!

I ran the blue panel through the Cuttlebug folder Alegro and sponged it with brown ink also. I added the brown strips and dark pearls. Hope that everyone is having a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Cinema Saturday #100-Pride and Predjudice

I had to create a card for this challenge. Congratulations to Brooke and Sankari for celebrating their 100th Cinema Saturday Challenge. They started with Pride and Predjudice and everyone voted for it to be their 100th challenge too! I have to admit that I am not a big Jane Austen fan. I know, not very womanly of me! My sister is though, does that count? I am a big romantic though and I love happy endings! I watched the 2005 version with Kierra Knightly. My card is inspired by the happy ending where Elizabeth realizes that she loves Mr. Darcy. I love the scene where he comes out of the fog and the very end.

I rubbed rose ink on a glossy panel and backed it with black. I stamped the man (Tim Holtz) the lady (Hot off the Press) the swirls (Scrappy Cat) and the saying (Hampton Art) with black Stazon ink. The requirement is to add a touch of lace which I did for the collar of her dress. Thanks for stopping by!

a baby shower card in non traditional colors

My daughter needed a baby shower card today and I wanted to enter the Play Date Challenge #54-terra cotta, celery and white so I decided to make one using those colors. I didn't turn out too bad! The stamp is Penny Black colored with Copic markers. The saying is Stampendous. I cut the butterflies with my Cuttlebug and while doing so, I broke my C panel:( I ran the terra cotta panels through the flower Cuttlebug folder and added pearls. I am also entering into the One Stop Craft Challenge #105-embossing and I used the sketch at Stampin for the Weekend #50-a sketch and add a butterfly. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

The flowers and leave are Quikutz cut with the Cuttlebug with brads in the middles. I wound gold floss around the shaker box. The shaker box is filled with gold sparkles. This was fun to make, you ought to try it! Thanks for stopping by!

This is a Penny Black stamp colored with Copic markers. The saying is Hero Arts. I ran the burgundy panel through the heart Cuttlebug embossing folder. I don't know the patterned paper manufacturer. A simple card but I like these colors together. Thanks for stopping by!
